Dare to Play
MDT Program with City of Learning Eindhoven
We had the pleasure of hosting the From Waste to Wonder workshop as part of the Dare To Play event, an inspiring program within the MDT initiative by artist Octophina, held at Emmaus Eindhoven. This session was a little different from our usual work with children—it brought together participants in their 20s and 30s. 🌿✨
The dynamic was more relaxed and reflective, but equally creative and engaging. Instead of racing with excitement like kids often do, these adults took their time to explore the materials, enjoy the process, and express their ideas in unique ways. The heart of the workshop remained the same: experimenting with bio-based materials and transforming what is often seen as waste into something beautiful and meaningful. It was fascinating to see how creativity flows across all age groups when given the chance to make, play, and explore.
A big thank you to Octophina and Emmaus Eindhoven for creating a space where art, sustainability, and play come together. We loved being part of this initiative and look forward to more sessions where people of all ages can experience the joy of making!

WEETIKVEEL! Festival Eindhoven
The WEETIKVEEL! Festival in Eindhoven at Natlab, Strijp-S, is a family friendly festival where curiosity and creativity come alive through workshops, science, art, and experiments. It is all about discovering new things in a playful, hands-on way, and our From Waste to Wonder workshop was a perfect match! 🌿✨
Sixteen enthusiastic kids (ages 7–8) chose our session because it promised real making and experimenting. And that’s exactly what we did! The workshop invited them to mix ingredients, shape their own creations, and press them into molds—a process that felt like a mix between cooking, crafting, and science.
While sustainability was part of the story, the real magic for the kids was getting their hands dirty, trying things out, and turning ideas into something tangible. They loved the creative freedom, the tactile experience, and the surprise of what their final piece would look like after drying.
It was a great pleasure to host a workshop at the WEETIKVEEL! Festival, in Eindhoven. We can’t wait to be back next year with more fun, creativity, and making magic!

AICS
International Community School Amsterdam
AICS International Community School in Amsterdam, with its two vibrant campuses, provided the perfect environment for the From Waste to Wonder workshops, specially designed for all eight Group 6 classes (Age 9-10) and all eight Group 7 classes (ages 10-11). We were also welcomed to facilitate two more workshops on the Global Citizenship-day at one of their campuses (Age 10-12). 🌿✨
The workshop invited students to explore how bio-waste like coffee grounds and potato starch can be transformed into sustainable bioplastics, encouraging creativity and hands-on learning. During the intro and exploration phase, students were guided to investigate material properties such as hardness, flexibility, and recyclability, linking this vocabulary to their current curriculum. They discussed what makes materials recyclable or compostable, and why some materials are seen as waste when they lack these sustainable properties. This focus helped deepen their understanding of circular design and sustainability.
It was inspiring to see the students apply this knowledge while molding and pressing their eco-friendly creations, which they then took home after drying. This workshop perfectly aligns with AICS’s commitment to innovation and environmental awareness.

NIMETO UTRECHT
Nimeto Utrecht is a hub for creativity, design, and innovation, making it the perfect setting for the From Waste to Wonderworkshop. 🌿✨ As a leading vocational school that inspires future creators and makers, Nimeto focuses on practical skills, sustainability, and forward-thinking design—values that align perfectly with the mission of my workshop.
Together, we explored how bio-waste can be transformed into functional and artistic products, teaching students not only about circular design but also about creative problem-solving and the importance of sustainability. It was inspiring to see the talent and enthusiasm of Nimeto students as they embraced the challenge of rethinking waste.
This workshop is ideal for schools like Nimeto, where hands-on learning, innovation, and sustainability are key.
