PET Event at College de Brink
28 October 2026
As part of the PET Event (Promotie Event Techniek) at College de Brink in Laren, we introduced a group of curious and enthusiastic children aged 10–12 to the world of biobased materials, creative making, and hands-on experimentation. 🌿☕
Through four interactive From Waste to Wonder workshops, the children explored how everyday organic waste, such as used coffee grounds, can be transformed into new materials and playful objects. They got hands-on with the entire process: mixing natural ingredients, preparing the material, filling moulds, and using a hydraulic press to shape their own creations.
Connecting creativity with technology, the workshops encouraged children to discover that making doesn't always require conventional materials. By experimenting with material properties, moulds, pressure, and different techniques, they experienced how design, science, and technology come together in unexpected ways.
The workshops offered a playful introduction to circular thinking and material innovation, showing that waste can become a valuable resource and that technology can be a tool for creativity, exploration, and a more sustainable future. 🌱
