Within the MDT Plus program, "Creatief met Bioafval" was developed in collaboration with students from SUMMA Fashion College, challenging them to push the boundaries of sustainable fashion and material innovation. 🌱✨

The students were tasked with designing a sculptural fashion piece made entirely from coffee-ground bioplastic. Inspired by experimental fashion and designers such as Iris van Herpen, they explored bold silhouettes, textures, and forms that go beyond conventional garment design. Through a sequence of workshops, students learned to understand the material, test its limits, and translate their concepts into physical outcomes.

The process combined material research, digital design using Tinkercad, mold-making, and hands-on production. By designing and 3D-printing their own molds, students gained insight into both creative and technical aspects of circular design. The final results were striking sculptural pieces that showcased not only strong aesthetic visions, but also a deep engagement with sustainability and material experimentation.

This collaboration highlighted how education, fashion, and circular thinking can intersect—empowering future designers to imagine new possibilities for waste, materials, and the future of fashion.
